Should OEMs Launch their devices in Lagos, Nigeria

Lagos is a port and the most populous city in Nigeria. It is the second fastest-growing city in Africa and the seventh in the world. The population of Lagos according to the Lagos State Government, was 17.5 million. These figures are however disputed by the Nigerian Government and judged unreliable by the National Population Commission of Nigeria. The latest reports estimate the population at 21 million, making Lagos the largest city in Africa.

Lagos is Nigeria's economic focal point, generating a significant portion of the country's GDP. Most commercial and financial business is carried out in the central business district situated on the island. This is also where most of the country's commercial banks and financial institutions and major corporations are headquartered. Lagos has one of the highest standards of living as compared to other cities in Nigeria as well as in Africa.

Now why is a city deemed the largest city in Africa not even on the list of countries where mobile phone launches are held? I believe we have gotten to a point in Lagos Nigeria where we need Mobile Phone OEMs to bring or at least hold a launch of their product on our soil.

We hear of Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Nokia and a host of others holding launch events all around the world but we're all left out in Africa. The only region that seem to see stuff like this is South Africa.

First i think these guys need to do some research on how Nigerians are mobile phone freaks and like to have the latest gadgets and will probably spend their salary just to get a device. I f you know this i believe you can make device ranges that would fit the budgets of at least 40% of Lagosians (that's roughly about 8.4million people). If 8.4 million people buys your device, haven't you made some sort of name for yourself??? Or gained some ground in sales????

So #Samsung, #HTC, #Motorola, #Nokia, #Tecno, #Infinix, #LG, #APPPPPLE, #SONY, #Huawei, #ZTE, #Oppo, #ASUS, #Meizu, #Xiaomi, #Blu and all of ya out there, give Lagos, Nigeria a try... I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed. We need you to launch in our city.
